You have the right to obtain information from a debt collector. If you request in writing, a debt collector must provide you with certain information about the debts that you believe were incurred in your name by an identity thief , like the name of the creditor and the amount of the debt and any address or phone number connected with the fraudulent account, also who the original creditor who assigned  the account to the collection agency is and all their information.

File a complaint against any  creditor, collection agency, credit bureau, bank  that ignores affidavit in  Step 5. or refuses to give you information you request in writing.

I also recommend suing any store, credit card company, loan company, anyone who  gave credit to the perpetrator, because they where negligent, and probably didn't even take the basic precaution of checking for a drivers license or id or if a store their employee new the perpetrator and was probably an accomplice and they probably didn't even bother to fire that person.

This can be done up to $25,000 per company in some states in small claims court, without a lawyer. Your actual damages would be increased interest rates, increased cost of a loan, lost credit, higher closing cost, cost of selling your home you can no longer afford, loss of employment, and so on what ever your situation.  If you want to sue for punitive damages you most likely need a lawyer and can't sue in small claims court.

File a complaint against any  creditor, collection agency, credit bureau, bank  that ignores affidavit in  Step 5.

Do this online now with your states attorney general office or consumer protection division and also file a complaint against any  creditor, collection agency, credit bureau using the FTC consumer complaint form to report them to the FTC.
